Can staying in a tent with a gas grill cause a coma?
A friend and I went camping and became very ill after a couple of days. After discussing with some other friends a medical buddy said it may have been my propane grill that I had left on without lighting it so gas was coming out and not being burned. He then said that we were lucky because sleeping in a tent with a grill like that, we could have lapsed into coma. Is this possible or was he pulling one on us?

totally possible - you're not supposed to breath propane. Pretty sure it could have killed you, too.
Here is the "how":
Propane is a simple asphyxiant. High concentrations of propane can displace oxygen and cause asphyxiation. Oxygen content in the atmosphere must not be allowed to fall below 18%. When you turn to look back at the movie projector in a theater, why don't you see the beams of light anymore?
Historically, you could turn around and see the projector beam streaming into the dark theater. Something has changed in the movie theater experience/projector to eliminate this.
I've heard the following explanations:
-There's no smoking in theaters today. Thus, there's no smoke and no particles to catch the beams of light. I believe this was none other than Roger Ebert's answer.
-The carbon filament which burned in the projector is now encased in a bulb. This means the smoke that once filled the projector room and spilled out into the theater from this buring process is no longer present to catch the beams of light. A theater owner in Highland, IN offered this explanation.
-Some other change in projector technology, perhaps leading to a difference in the light itself, explains the disappearance of the rays of light.

I have a Chinon CS SLR 35 mm camera with a 50mm standard lens and a 135 mm telephoto. These lenses screw on the Camera Body. Most newer cameras have bayonet mounts. Can I adapt the existing lenses to fit a digital SLR camera body?
You can probably find an adapter for your screw-mount lenses to any of the current DSLR cameras. Since you're used to manual focus that won't be an issue for you. If your Chinon is stop-down metering you'll be familiar with that also. If it isn't, you'll need to learn how stop-down metering works.
IMO you'd be better off selling your Chinon Equipment on ebay or keeping it for nostalgia's sake (or when you want to shoot an occasional roll of film) and investing in a DSLR and the lenses made for it.
